Takam Market is MacEwan University’s newest food destination and Edmonton’s newest food hall. The word “Takam” is taken from the Filipino language and it literally means ‘to crave’. It is something one would say to friends when deciding on a place to eat. “What do you feel like? Where do you guys want to go?” In other words, Takam means to let one’s tastebuds lead the way. Takam Market was created by local restaurateurs, Ariel del Rosario and Roel Canafranca from Filistix.
Founded by Ariel del Rosario and Roel Canafranca, Filistix is a modern, casual dining restaurant that celebrates the flavors and ingredients of the Philippines and Southeast Asia. From their beginnings as a food truck to brick-and-mortar locations, Filistix reflects a diverse crossover of traditional and modernized Filipino dishes. Filistix was recognized as one of Edmonton’s Best New Restaurants in 2019 and The Globe and Mail's Best New Restaurants in the Prairies in 2019.
